I Am A Poet

Ian Sawicki

I am a poet -- I am that
which suspends belief in the air,
some words are curved and some are flat,
but they are all fashioned with care.

From the mind's complex rolls of thought,
stanzas gather in a wild kiss,
silk letters loose and some are taut,
but once arranged they are my bliss.

A pauper I may be sat here,
on the edge of a coloured dream,
sweet language is - always sincere,
and you my dear, ripple my stream.

So please let me think of a poem,
then I will be free to converse,
I'll be there once I've found rhythm,
and completed the final verse.
