David Fisher

David Fisher discovered poetry at the young age of  twelve. He was inspired by the works of Jim Morrison , William Blake, Ernest Hemingway and Edgar Allen Poe, just to name a few. Most of his earlier writings have been lost,  but he states that in losing them he has grown as a poet, knowing that most of his early poems were adaptations of poems he had read. He feels now that his poetry is a reflection of the true self and wants to share that revelation with the  reading public.   A native of McDowell County, West Virginia, he shows in his poetry a love and admiration for his beautiful state. “By living in rural West Virginia,” says Fisher,  "I acquired a connection with mother nature and my love for poetry.”  He joined the Navy in the summer of ’03 and even while serving, he never let  poetry leave his side.  In most cases it became his escape back to the state he holds dear.  Even now, while living in Kansas, Fisher still maintains ties with an overwhelming connection to the mountain state.  David Fisher has enjoyed publication in the New Jersey Poetry Society, Inc.’s annual anthology; in their newsletter, Poetidings; in The Poem Factory ; and in PoetryMagazine.com. He was also awarded Third Place in the International Open Poetry Contest for his poem “The Fallen.”  Fisher has self-published two chapbooks:  “One With Karma” and the newest, “Confessions.”  He lives in Kansas with his wife Karma and their two children, Olivia and Leanna. more…
