Homeless
Crystal leaves on leafless branches,
that appear dead.
I dragged along, like the season,
Carrying the load of my heart;
this everlasting duress.
My eyes only see the smog filled skies.
Great celestial one,
Where is your shine?
A mind dense with thoughts,
Now abhor the delusions it cultivates.
The night’s cold fingers
Grasp the core of my soul,
While thoughts drift away to a familiar place,
Where voices, with soft words,
Soothe a crying child.
My eyes exposed the curse of my surrounding,
And I consoled myself
with the thought of not being alone.
But I alone share the contents of my head.
I yearned to awake from this dream,
my companion on this concrete bed.
