His Pearl

On gentle paths we walk along my Spirit friend and me,
we walk awhile and talk awhile: he's gently leading me.

He says, "You know I love you so, come on and follow me,
there's many things to show you now, the night is young you see."

We gazed into the starry night: afar, afar I see, that little girl,
He sees a Pearl, "Oh my, that might be me."

He's brought me here to give me cheer for many days to come,
He said, "My child I'll sit a while, you go and have some fun."

The waves, the sun, the wind and sea are reaching out for me;
they warm my soul as life unfolds a simple mystery.

I wondered why I had to die before I ventured home:
but now I understand all things as they relate to me.

His simple discipline, in all its majesty,
was just a way to say hold on: "You still belong to me.

You're still my girl and still my Pearl and all you see is yours;
Now if you will, just please stand still and let your eyes behold;

The crowning of my glory, the changing of your soul."
