His Last Words



Those last words he spoke,
I will keep to myself.
They were for me
Not for anyone else.

They play in my head
Everyday
In that same voice
That I heard him say,

"I'm very sorry,
I've broken your heart."
Now we both suffer
Because we're apart.

But those three words
He whispered to me,
As he died slowly
In our misery

Will stay in my heart
'Til I'm dead in my grave.
I'll hold close to me
The secrets he gave...
