His "Word's-eye View" of the Game

The streak of calling 3,338 consecutive games
Will ( I hope, as a fan) be a record
Unbroken, at least, as long as I'm alive--
Or around. Now that our beloved "Chickie Baby"
Is forever in Heaven's hardcourt to
Call every game--looking down, I will miss
Him so--looking up, as I try to listen to
Someone else's voice calling the play-by-play.
I will miss him "put the baby to bed."
I will miss him calling a player "throwing
A brick"...his "ticky-tack"... "back and
Forth like a windshield wiper" call
When a ball misses--or makes the basket.
I will miss his "popcorn machine" and
"Pressure cooker." I will miss him when a player
"Blooows a lay-up," "picks his pocket"and
"Fakes a floperoo" on a "frozen rope."
I will miss him when a player is "caught
With his hand in the cookie jar" and I will
Miss him when a ball does not "draw an iron."
