Help me to understand

I open my swollen eyes and wipe away a tiny tear
I think its the break of a new dawn
It's just a week since you went away

I caress the soft pillow where you lay your head
As I breathe ,the sweet odour of your body
I somehow still can smell

Lying in the darkness I can hear you whispering to me
I will love you baby,until the day I die
Until eternity
But eternity came early
Just a few long days ago
when you said goodbye honey
And went out the door

I am trying to understand
That what you are doing you like
That you were going away to fight
To fight for our country's right

But honey you left me fighting
A fearful fight on my own
Because each day I keep wondering
If you would make it back home
