Heart

I was moved, my friend, as I read your words
By the force and the echoes of your strength
With no more than this your spirit sang
its own song of private joys and sorrows.

I was taken back to times of my youth
feeling the past rushing forth in my veins
emotions broke forth from deep hidden places
Memory blessed my soul in your refrain

Did you know what you did?
or was it an accident?
Were you flushed at the end,
heart pounding in your chest?

Did you know my heart would see?
Your heart.
