Have You Seen A Little Girl?

Have you seen a little girl?
Short, black hair,
just found out about her,
from an old high school fling,
who claims to be her mother
Met her back in '81
had the kid for me in '82,
but never let me know when or where
until later, after she abandoned her,
left her on the doorstep of an orphanage,
got adopted at the age of five

Have you seen a little girl?
tall, black hair,
not so little anymore
25 years have passed
she's all grown-up now
grew up to be successful,
graduated high school, valedictorian,
went to Princeton,
got a Master's
Makes 150K a year as an anesthesiologist
got married to a rich, prominent dentist
had two kids for him, boy and a girl
lives in a nice, 2 story suburban house
with a white picket fence
made something of herself in life
succeeded where I failed

Have you seen a little girl?
I need her
I'm getting old,
I'm lonely, miserable, full of sorrow
there's a hole where my soul should be
I have no money, no job, no one wants me
all I want to do is find her
meet her least once
just seeing her would be enough
my long lost daughter
