Harlequin And Columbine

Dance, dance, dance, great Harlequin!
With stars for your cap and stars for your boots
And stars all around, all spinning and twirling,
Striding the night sky on shimmering feet,
Fantastic figure, masked and spangled
With starshine that glitters with each blithe leap,
Whirling forever with joyful abandon,
Vaulting and soaring on Heaven itself.

And Columbine! Twinkling coquette,
Young as the stars, each night reborn,
You pirouette gaily in slippers of silver,
Glowing in radiant exuberance,
Flashing your brilliant petticoats,
Dazzlingly sweeping away the darkness,
Turning the shadows bright with stardust
From moonbeam tresses, like sparkling dewdrops.

So, Harlequin and Columbine,
Dance forever and ever away,
Immortal as happiness, twirling in tandem,
Granting the earth a vision of gladness,
Leaving behind an image of brightness,
A longing to join the immortal dance,
The rippling echo of your laughter,
The shining promise of your joy.
