Ham, Egg, And Cheese Sandwiches

we took a trip to montaulk on the L I double R
we couldn't stop giggling, we just talked on and on
i took my sweater off and put it around your shoulder
cause you said that the windows were open and that it was getting colder
you looked like you were dozing off but you said you were just dreaming
of the the skies back home in california where the sun is always gleaming
i looked into your baby blue eyes and said oh wow you're gorgeous
i cant believe we're a match cause baby cause we're apples to orange

we took the bus to the beach on a beautiful june day
you said the waves in the ocean were more beautiful than the everglades
we sat down on the hot sands as we set up our peaceful picnic
i still remember the first time i met you at that british cafe in bushwick
we had ham egg and cheese sandwiches which my mom made for us
and i baked us a cake which you said tasted like grapes which was made with a labor of love
we sat and stared at the sun setting across the shimmering atlantic ocean
we were wrapped in each others arms feeling safe and warm, we didn't care where the night was going
