guardian

the music swells and the sun sets off in the distance.
a spectre walking the sidewalk blinks out of existence.
sometimes it hurts so bad looking back at the fragments of memory.
i can kill the pain drowning my brain in alcohol and envy.
only mistakes were made up on the altar, in your embrace.
looking up from nothingness into your face.

i watch you disappear into thin air.
gasping and grasping from the hospital bed.
no one there
say bye to daddy, love.
the spirit is gone.
there's nothing to feel if you keep moving on.

like a twister touching down on a cityscape:
leave a crooked path of rubble - ruddy red wake.
wrecking ball; a broken home.
sifting through what could be saved.
half-burnt polaroids, ultrasound print outs.
i'm so out of love with you.
so glad you can't stay.

cupid's cove is a sewage main.
a mixer with all the white trash cutaways.
let's separate, make the heart grow fonder.
i got a will to gratify and to wander.
