Goodnight

I go to bed with a night light
when I close my eyes it is dark
and gothic enough
the light is comforting while I am conscious
in the dark is where they live
something, someone wanting to scare me
bigfoot is standing outside the patio door
just waiting, and waiting....
the boogie man is hiding in the closet
preparing to boogie down on my subconscious
a burglar walking down the street
includes my door in any, many, miny, moe
a rabid St. Bernard is sleeping
under my truck-- driver side
they have been after me since I was a child
playing my mind like the Barney Fife

I guess I will be okay
as long as a light is on
