Golden Eaglets ( A Tribute To Nigeria Victory of FIFA U-17)

In an athletic swagger
they climbed the ladder
fouth time in our history
matching on same victory
with skills; with tact
with practice; with perfect
the right mind with right frame
the able hearts with a coach tame
all set the left back; right back
all apt the center forward; center back
all good the four mid-fielders
all dive the lone goalkeeper
tapping soccer; making meals
raking dollar; paying bills
a thousand spectators
hopeful; finger crossed
a thousand commentators
joyful; believing God
speculating; analyzing
aspirating; fantasizing
the dream once inspired
soon to be visualised
the trophy once imagined
soon to be realised
where the raptors dared
the eaglets have gone
when the eagles dread
the eaglets have won
It's now a yes! yes!! yes!!!
and more and more
yes! yes!! yes!!!

David Abraham

Here, an opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to ALMIGHTY GOD for giving me the gift of poetry, it is indeed a beautiful thing especially the positive energy of expression and the passion. I discovered my gift of writing and poetry quite early but only much later in my life did I start to put it to use. I was quite active in the old poetry.com and won one poetic pin, several poetic accolades and one of the poets of the year in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. Presently, am writing my second unpublished inspirational book and also putting together a poetic book due to be published later in the year. email address: mypoeticcareer@yahoo.com.
