God Didnt Promise

God didn't promise us sunshine each day
or the mountains we climb to be small,
Yet He promised His presence through good times and bad
standing ready to answer our call
When our lives encompassed with sickness and death
our emotions and time in demand,
He lessons each heartache we bear thru these trials
by the touch of his wonderous hand
When the burden becomes just too great to bear
our efforts all seeming in vain,
God intervenes with his unending love
giving strength...and our hope we sustain
Then our loved one grows weaker...human efforts do fail
through the end we don't try to detain,
God grants to our loved one a deserving relief,
precious memories are all that remain
Sickness and death are not foreign to me
the aspects of each I recall,
Knowing and feeling the pain you endure
