Gnosis

Unworthy was the eye
 Disillusioned by a fog
 The guillotine has fallen
 Ignoble was your love
 Malefic without seeing
 How wretched I could be
 Bohemian in wisdom
 To ignorant to see
Your heart was my own Zion
 My promised land I thought,
My walls could be a temple
 The religion you had sought
 Yet your piety
 Could never keep the faith
 Men aren't made to worship
 Duplicitous and unsafe
 Prayer seemed so useless
 Silence was a curse
 Thick and palatable
 It only made things worse
For then I blamed the world
 For my failure to see
 What always bared itself
 Right in front of me
 Lesser loves have know
 What I never could
That just because it feel so right
 It doesn't mean you should.
