ghost waltz

its interesting the little things
that make up my loneliness
the way you brushed my hand as you walked by
the tenderness of your kiss

i remember the way we met
on that cold december night
the way we kept each other warm
as we held each other tight

you called me "your pretty boy"
long after my looks had gone away
and you were always my princess
as lovely as when we met that first day

take me in your arms again
so that i might have the chance
to tell you that i love you
and join you for one more dance

as the ghosts waltz to the music
for this time you're as real as life
i'll hold you and say to you
thank you for being my wife
the music comes to a close
the dancers turn and walk away
there's more i wanted to talk about
but that's all i needed to say
