Fried Nest Eggs

Many nest eggs have been fried by corporate shenanigans.
Ruthless greed has been denied
by these heartless hooligans.
Lifetime savings have been drained by deceptive accounting.
Wall Street gurus have been stained
by promotional touting.
Small investors were mislead by shrewd disinformation.
The prospectus they were read
by promise was salvation.
Economic policies by reducing interest rates
have cut returns on CDs
by imposing narrow straits.
People placed in dependence by their marginal income,
sink lower from resplendence:
by deprivation succumb.
Nest eggs served up for breakfast by evening starlight is gone.
Making ends meet for repast
by frugality till dawn.
