Forming of Mackinac Island part 4

It's guessed hundreds of million years ago
Where Mackinac Island is now aglow
Inland seas dominated the landscape
Lying smooth as if they were a pancake

The gentle drift would make the seas briny
Then periods of the sun so shiny
Dried up the water in the coastal seas
Soon piles made with help of the gentle breeze

This act continued over untold time
Leaving a great deal of salt at it's prime
But soon enough mineral silt floats in
Allowing a new process to begin

Clay was formed which turned to shales
As ground up shells spread around pushed by gales
Past being left by creatures of the sea
Pressure of sea formed limestone like a quay

Riding on an under bed of old salts
In time rock around it developed faults
Which allowed circulating water through
Washing out the salt to make something new

Caverns which then collapsed as years went by
The limestone fell into stacks some piled high
The circulating water went to work
They built what may be considered a quirk

The water circled around the stacks
Carrying debris, filling in the cracks,
In time turned to cement, formed Breccia
Rhymes with the end of Dyslexia
