Flowered Fields

Prophetic vision vividly assaulted her
as slaughter dripped from fingers; quick nervous motion,
rhythmically smooth, the heart still beat its violent pulse,
the future folded itself up and waved goodbye.
A warm open wound gaped in her reflected chest
while a serrated blade tumbled to the floor's stretch,
tears grew wings and flew from features silently,
she slipped from her body before it joined the glint
of agony captured by the mirror's cold surface.

And now, the depths of her pale escape are haunted
by her tortured spirit; fast curls of screamed existence,
trapped in repetition she relives her demise
each night with fresh memory tattooed in the mind.
The ghost of insanity wraps her in soft wool
as she scrapes her pleas for forgiveness against stars;
blinks of blue-red tones in the distance of Heaven,
where she had hoped to roam flowered fields of freedom.
