Flashes Of Real

Lies tainted your innocent soul,
while your ego fueled tears.
For love's like being in a hole
that just gets deeper over the years.

Wooing dreams inducive to youth,
you squander away your time.
And despise reality's truth,
when anxieties start to climb.

Lured by flattery's sweet sway,
hope endeavors to survive.
And you mask your hurt away,
trying hard to keep love alive.

Conceit won't let you see,
that things aren't really so good.
And endorses the fantasy,
your struggle's misunderstood.

Finding solace in the dark,
you lose track of how you feel.
For although time leaves its mark,
you ignore flashes of real.
