First Valentine's Day

Today's a wonderful day,
Because it's yours and mine.
The brief, but beautiful moments we shared,
Will indelibly be written in time.
There's so much warmth and gratitude
On a day of the year such as today,
When our lips meet, and our hearts beat,
And there's so much for them to say.

Today's such a glorious day
Because it's filled with your love and mine,
A love we can take wherever we go,
And it will be there all the time.
There is so much joy and laughter
On this beautiful day of the year
When our hearts are so light, and feelings are just right
And there's no burden for us to bear.

Today's our first Valentine's day,
Because it's the first we'll spend together,
This day we'll remember for years to come,
For we'll make it a day like no other.
There'll be no false assurance.
No Romeo and Juliet "I'm thine,
Just a good old squeeze, and a seat on your knees
And a peck on the cheek will be fine.

Barbara Cadogan

I am a Registered Nurse, and first started to write poetry when I was about 18 years old. I have written several poems on a variety of subjects, and enjoy poems that are light and filled with humor. I feel that a good poem like a painting, is able to evoke a variety of emotions, whether sad or cheerful, angry or sympathetic. My goal in life is to learn as much as I can, and to spread peace and good cheer to many. Above all, to be respectful and helpful to my fellow man. more…
