Figurehead

Catching hell
with your bible held
far out in front of you
Surrounded by
a library of numbers and thoughts,
confused by the answers that found you
Awash in pure denial
and prey to the suicide that refines you
Feeding the flames
with a pile of dirty money
that owns you
Cleaning your gun
and folding your uniform,
bulletproof vest for the nation
behind you
Shaded from the scorching sun
with the pretty statues, painted canvas and
blackened parchment psychosis provides you . . . with

Pull the wool over your eyes
Do away with the fact that you've already died
Send your letters of apology
and hope the almighty condones your theology
Nail your windows shut,
clog every pore
and hope your brothers and sisters
find it in their hearts not to darken your door . . . step

We are walking dirt clods losing mass for
the ferilization of prisoners yet to come.

There are no innocents
This is the ignorance of god itself
There are no innocents
I want the end of this
world as much as everyone else

Here's your criminal,
here's your infidel
God sends his disregards
Another plague,
the next mistake
but... try not to take it to heart

Hand-me-down from heaven above
knelt to pray
and took a shotgun blast
to the back of the head
This is how we treat our guests, Mr. Christ
Be sure to come back again

I built a temple for you
Least you could have done was shone
I gave my life to let you sit on the throne
