Fatherly Love

Many years of frustration lead me to label
him a coward.

But the older I get I realize two wrong
don't make a right

Time has turned anger into longing for
fatherly love

Wish he were there to encourage me during
all my athletic endeavors

Wanted you to console me when I lost the
love of my life

She left me but I had no father to guide me
through my pain

I often wonder would you be proud of me as
a person, student, and athlete

Hated you for so long but now I just want
to feel your grace.

Just a chance to see your face.

I love you but I miss the essence of your presence

Father I just wish you were there to
encourage, love, and embrace.
