Faltering

I tread a land so sadly strange
The world around me slowed and changed
I only saw a ghostly haze
Which veiled my melancholic gaze
It felt like rain which pattered lightly
It drowned my sorrow ever slightly
On my florid feet I felt
A marble cold as hail's pelt
Reality I could not waive,
I stood upon a vacant grave
The ground beneath me caving in
My demons clawed against my skin
Consuming me, my very core
My soul was drained, like rain it poured
"Goodbye!" I cried to none at all
Only death has seen me fall
I know now, that when moonlight beams,
I walk within the devil's dream

“I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it's true I'm here, and I'm just as strange as you.” ― Frida Kahlo more…
