Ever After

Its past the time for fairy tales,
or wishes that come true.
Much too late for breadcrumb trails,
too broke to buy a clue.
The knight in shining armor
has put away his steed;
the princess, if someone would harm her,
will scream a useless plead.
The dragons have free reign to roar,
the ogres feed on dreams.
Trolls control the bridge once more.
Futiley the princess screams.
Seems “Happily Ever After”
and the stories we were told.
Became quite a disaster,
youthful dreams bought and sold.

Laura Verdi Stridiron

Born in January 1969, I was raised in Queeens NY. I am a daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. My favorite jobs in the world. I have been writing since my early teens. I write because it is cheaper than therapy or bail! I write to give the beast an outlet for his creativity! I hope you may enjoy some of the poetry I have written,as much as I enjoy reading yours."Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win.” Stephen King more…
