Events of my Life

By the sweat of my brow
I began this life of mine
Did I not ask for this way or that
Ever have I fallen from the path of my delight
Shame I have brought upon my Lord
The very one I had disowned
May I be someone, something that I could never be
The path I chose is it for me
My time on Earth has been short to say
The life I wrought has made me a slave
Many things bore me aloft
Those things also brought me low
I sometimes cry for my soul I think I've lost
The way I have paved
Is this life an event to large even for me
Sometimes I wonder If I can ever see
Moving along at even a faster pace
My life only has few things worth my embrace
Perhaps someday the sun will shine upon me
Until then my brow is dry
