Escaped Sheep
Beside the tree
She stood with glee
Free to be
The sheep that she

Had always thought
Could not be caught
Outside the lot
She had sought

A leaf more tender
On a weekend bender
Wary the fender
And the lender

From this sheep
There will be no peep
A slope too steep
One final leap

Out of her stall
Over the wall
Without a fall
Standing tall

On legs of mutton
This little glutton
Eats her fill
On the side of the hill

She makes me ponder
With childlike wonder
If it is me

That needs to be free
