Emotional Bewilderment

The harder I try the faster and further I fall.
Every dream and aspiration seems to be accompanied by a wall.
All my efforts seem to be covered in pall.
Many people think there is something special inside of me.
The thought of me often inspires joy and glee.
Often I gaze in the mirror trying to get a glimpse of what they see.
All I see is a life suspended in disbelief.
From all my despair, I see no relief.
Searching and seeking for a reprieve from all my grief.
The world to me has not been kind.
It has taken away all my piece of mind.
That's why it is myself I'm always trying to find.
I often feel like I fail.
All my days seem to get grayer.
So in the wind I frail.
But I never lose sight of hope because my life is a prayer.
