Egypt

Mysterious land of the Nile,
are you the fulcrum between the sun and the moon?
Oceans of sand and rock stretch in to infinity,
monument your timeless and ancient civilisation.
Giant statues erupt from your land,
with their skin of Alabaster.
Basalt idols are seated patiently,
awaiting their place in the afterlife.
All who are lost and will never be known, turned in to your dust.
forgotten figures carved in to your stone.
Fertile and yet desolate lands of the Nile,
You are a place of paradox and of eternal enigma.
Temples, ageless wisdom springs from every vantage.
Land beloved of Alexander
Your Illusions and dreams are a defiance of time itself.
Coloured relief's that survived the Millennia
tell your stories of long ago.
A blanket of stars envelops your night,
Lifeblood flows inside your stone and sand,
Silver and gold wrapped around your hand.
