Early Birds

Early birds, we rise with the sun
When the mist is young, soft the air
we sing our song without fret or fear
We work our hardest and cherish our fun
----------------------------------------------------
We sing in the trees and dance with the leaves
The wind is our fan, the sky our drum
The rising forest joins the hum
And all the roofs and their lowering eaves
----------------------------------------------------
Our voices are tender, our feet secure
Our sides are packed with eager wings
Prepared for dives and sudden swings
At times when things are not so sure
----------------------------------------------------
We rise with the sun, touched by the dew
In our diverse colours we please every view
We build our nests, low and high
We'll soar from earth to the waiting sky
----------------------------------------------------
We are early birds, we like to sing
In the same wise way we like to think
