each season
the earth returns in parts upon the fields

in spring
when the sky is pregnant
and it's gladness is a cloudburst on the green

in summer
when this golden land relies upon the weather
to illuminate
the endless blooming universal soul
and it's heat sits smug

when
autumn drops it's fronds
and fire sirens leap october rooftops to
spatter with the rain against my single-glazing
and it draws a heavy breath

and now
when, flush with winterwarm
this body seals tight
doll-red cheeks are porcelein-crisp
rubbed and pinched
pores blown clean

this season
when the earth returns it's white upon the fields
