Driftwood - Free verse

A lonely
Piece of driftwood
Floated
To the shore
I wonder where it came from
Where had it been
Before
Laying there so helpless
Waiting
For the tide
Ready for the ocean's waves
Another rocky ride
It had
A kind of beauty
Uniquely
Worn by time
But
In the grander scheme of things
Not really worth
A dime
Soon
It would be off again
To travel
Far and wide
But to me this was a work of art
That
Couldn't be denied
A lonely piece of
Driftwood
Drifting in the tide
But
Now it hangs upon my wall
With
Dignity and pride.
