Dreamy Nights (Poem #721)

The sun is silently setting.
Sky turns from blue to pinks.
The toils of the day, forgetting.
Fires red and orange. -  Don't blink!

Changes flourish in a magic show,
Softening into clouds of gray.
Seeing a day's end gradually flow
Into the darkness of night to stay,

As resting peacefully we sleep,
The moon may be watching us.
Hopefully dreams will creep
Into our minds without fuss

Glad again when the light of day
 Stretching, yawning we rise.
The sunrise lights the way
And silently enters our eyes.

Fully awake another day begins
With all of the emotions of life.
May there be no tears, but grins
Until resting time without strife.

Jean Gorney

I wrote a poem for my daughter and new son-in-law and read it at their wedding reception in 1997. People have been encouraging me ever since. I try to write up-beat and happy poetry. My poetry has been in many anthologies, newspapers, church bulletins, etc. I won a small contest once. I self-published some small(4x5)books with about 16 poems in each that can be used as greeting cards. I include an envelope for mailing. Check them out on my FB page under Jean Magill Gorney. more…
