dreaming of backyards

I remember hot summer nights
in those backyards
made of music
drinking whiskey
like it was keeping me alive
dancing wildly with you
to wild sounds
drugs passing hands
as quickly as rumors
keeping us all interesting
kissing you like I loved you
our hands finding each other
in the dark
exploring our coastlines openly
I never wanted the night to end
so I wouldnt let it
and soon
watching me drink the whiskey
that was keeping me alive
was killing you
and the drugs that kept me interesting
were keeping me dull and and unresponsive
and the wild dancing
looked more like a fistfight
and the wild sounds
sounded more and more
like shouting
and kissing you
like I loved you
turned into kissing
apologetically
and your hands
were the only hands
holding me up
and you prayed and prayed
for the night just to end
but what I wouldnt give
for one more night
in those backyards
made of music
so I could kiss you like I love you
before you pray for the night to end
