Dreamers and Dreams

A dream has died,
 beneath the tides
 of a yellow dusty sea.

Winds will blow
the sands of time,
 pallbearers for that dream.

If you have knowledge,
then incline your ear.
Wisdom begins,
 most truly with fear.

If you understand,
teach this to me.
Tell me of wisdom,
remind me of dreams.

A dreamer cried,
beneath the lies
of a coward and a thief.

The air is still,
yet still to err,
is seen as soft and weak.

If you have knowledge,
you understand.
If you know fear,
you are a wise man.

And to those still lacking,
I simply ask, "Why?"
Do we cry because we're human?
Or are we human because we cry?
