Do Right

Please help me to understand
What it is you are trying to say
Cause it sounded to me as if
You are planning to go away

That woman that I saw you with
Outside your office the other day
The one that is in the car waiting for you nowIs planning to take you away

From me, from us, from our family
Standing there in the door with your bags in hand
You are planning a quick escape
Taking as much of our love to her as you can

I did not even see this coming
I hadn't the slightest clue
Our babies want to know what's going on
They want to know where are you

"Where is he going Mommy?
And when is he coming back?"
And I hate you, you rotten b*st*rd
For there needing to be answer to that

An answer where I have to tell them
Daddy is never coming home
He has left us for another woman
Abandoned and all alone

Of course I will never utter these words
To their precious and innocent ears
But d*mn your selfish cheating heart
For tossing out like trash all our wonderful years

Although I know they were never perfect
After all what marriage really is
But I really had no idea
That our little squabbles would come to this

You taking off with the other woman
And giving her what's mine
My once loving husband, lover, and best friend
Only to find

That although you blame me for all our troubles
You yourself is not the greatest catch
And though you the thought the lawn would be greener
My dear, it still needs tending as it too has grass

Be with her if you want
For I tell you, you will know no peace
No matter how hard you try
Until you do right by me

And by the children you left behind
The ones you hardly see
The broken promises and broken hearts
Every day I pick up every piece

They used to ask for you everyday
But not so much these day anymore
When they are hurting or are in pain
Its me their little arms reach out for

You don't have to be with or around me
But it is the God's honest truth
You're not hurting me when you disappear
Only them and later in life you too

So why don't you get your act together
Be the man you were brought up to be
The one that God planned on when He gave you life
For you and for our children to see

When our boys become men how they should treat women
Especially when problems arise
And our daughter will not find a man like you
That tells her only half truths and lies

You can take what I am saying with a grain of salt
But I tell you the truth you will see
You and that woman will know no peace
Not until He is once again the center in your life
And you both do right by your children and me
