Diversion

When rumors are wanton. When gossip is vile.
We need a diversion before we just rile.

When notions are hurtful. When natter is stern.
We need a diversion before we let burn.

When reports are dismal. When drivel is bleak.
We need a diversion before we go freak.

When beliefs are hapless. When prattle is poor.
We need a diversion before we get sore.

When accounts are awful. When jabber is dire.
We need a diversion before we show ire.

When stories are morose. When blather is dour.
We need a diversion before we lay sour.

When theses are horrid. When chatter is bad.
We need a diversion before we get mad.

When journals are sullen. When babble is glum.
We need a diversion before we go numb.
