Dirge Over Asia

Today, the world is weeping!
This dirge over Asia ascends
A great earthquake followed by a tsunami
This tragedy we now lament

Our voices echo with sadness
As we seek to share comforting words!
How can we move forward from this madness?
How can we relieve the pain and hurt?

With empathy, we express sincere sympathy
Even as our eyes fill with tears!
The world is grieving for South Asia
Our deep feelings overflow in this dirge!

Asia, you are a resilient people!
You will endure as you courageously cope
The devastation that came your way
Did not wash away your hope!

Keep your hope radiant and bright
With courage, continue to stand strong!
One day soon this dirge for Asia
Will be replaced with a joyful song!
