Denial

What is it you would like to know?
Do you want to know about the darkness
or the fright?
Would you like to know about the pain
and the way I had to fight?
Are you curious how I felt, what I thought
when the sun was shining bright?
If you ask because you care and want me to tell,
I might.
What do you see when you gaze into my soul?
A child, afraid, you can love you can hold?
Do you see the wounds that faded so long ago?
Look with your heart; they are there for you to behold.
Hold my hand and wipe my tears that are decades old.
Why do you turn away, now my story I have told?
By leaving you cause more pain this fragile soul can't bear.
But can't you see the pain I desperately need to share?
Please don't walk away and leave me standing here.
I promise I will tell; what is it you would like to know?
