Deep seeded rage.
This is a true story of a girl five years of age.
Who was filled with a tremendous, deep seeded rage.
It's like she was a starved animal, locked in a cage.
She could tear up a room, in five minutes flat.
She threw furniture, I'm not talking about a hat.
There are times, that I didn't think that I'd survive that.
She'd threaten me with knives, hit me, and bite me.
I didn't know how to make her understand reality.
She was stuck in her past, I couldn't make her see.
The counselors all said, let her get her anger out.
She had so much bottled up inside, let her scream or shout.
But they weren't the ones there, when this rage came about.
It was hard, because I was trying to raise another three.
They just didn't understand why she'd haul off and hit me.
I'd try to get them in another room and distract them, so they didn't see.
There were so many things that I hid.
Like the bruises she left on me, when she hit me like she did.
And to think this was all because of abusing the poor kid.
What could you do? When she was in that moment, I was the enemy.
She wasn't able to concentrate, she couldn't see that it was only me.
The only thing I could do, was hold her, and love her unconditionally.
It was not her fault that she felt the need to defend herself that way.
There were times I'd lose faith, it was so much to take from day to day.
Some days I'd sit and cry, the only thing that I could do was to pray.
She is a young woman today, so self assured.
But she never remembers the past of what I endured.
But I guess that's okay, it means that some of her soul was cured.
