Death's Dance

I dance a waltz with death
Every night I fight his advance
Every day, he's there beside me.
But never once have I been afraid,
when he shows his face in sun and the rain.
I am so enamored.
He whispers nothings,
And all of my shortcomings
Still I breathe his comfort.
To know I will not stay here, be here

Forever.

Is it sad that he is my lover?
Is it sad that he is my kindred friend?
Death dotes on me, he waits with me.
He is my dutiful suitor.

What's more, he gives me sorrow,
So I don't need to pretend it's not there.
He sits in an empty chair,
In my home
I guess no one is ever truly alone...

He is the only man, who wants me whole,
That wants my mind, my body...

My shattered soul.
