Death of A Thespian

It had been over a decade
since I had been in the spotlight
on a black stage outlined by black walls
facing my audience at center stage
it did not feel like it used to
I did not feel the character being portrayed
Willy Loman from "Death of A Salesman"
I hated the character
because he reminded me of me
remaining stagnant throughout his life
I could feel his agrivation
I could see his flashbacks vividly
more prominent than the present
I felt his helplessness
the performance was not bad
the audience applauded enthusiastically
they did not know it was a hoax
that I was portraying myself
after I finished the monologue
I realized my acting ability was gone
