Deadly Deed

Death galloped by on her steed
like an ill-tempered shrew.
Without a single clue
she made her mean debut
and took a life or two.

Many sorrows left to breed.
Many hearts left to bleed.
Many plans left to seed.
Many hopes left to need.

Death has realized her gain.
Death has equalized her pain.
Death has neutralized her stain.
Death has tranquilized her strain.

Death has done her deadly deed
and all that death can do.
