Courage

I lost it in a split second,
and then searched endlessly for it.
I looked in my pocket.
Searched the entire area I remembered having it last.
I thought about my fears...
Only to remember what scared it away.
So I reviewed it over, and over.
Why had it gone?
I stared at my fear up close.
I backed away.

Even when I faced it
When I made myself...It still didn't return.
I looked around some more...
When it became clear that it was lost in me.
And to get it back
I had to let go
of what held it down.
Find the confidence to undo that mess.
To regain my courage.
And then finally I moved on stronger.
