Confessions

I am a jungle of "I love you"s
impossible to sort through
Complex twisting vines
green and fresh, and everlasting.

I am more than a mountain range.
My woes and ecstasies so ridiculously vivid
they're called colors.

I am the uneaten half of your sandwich,
and the freckles on your cheeks
deepening with the sweet nourishment
of your sunshine smile.

I am thick, brown, squelching mud and
a bright white towel at the end of a
scalding shower.

I am a peanut butter milkshake,
toothpaste,
and the lingering aroma of memories.

I am an iridescent soap bubble
floating merrily along to the musical
beating of your pitter, patter, nervous clatter heart.

I am the speed of light.

I am sunshine and rainclouds
and hail.
and sleet.
and freezing slush when your toes just can't bear the cold.

I am the knots in your back
and the feeling
in the pit of your stomach
just before the rollercoaster

I am failure more hopeless than the nightmares you don't dare to dream.

I am louder than the voice inside your head,
fresher than the fresh sheets on your bed,
and whiter than bleach.

I am confident
and scared.

I'm in your elbows, thumbs,
and hair.

But more than anything
I am the reasons for this ever-beating heart
and these ever-inhaling lungs.

good morning sunshine,
it's a beautiful life.

aVividOverdose Claim this poet

Poetry is, and should be, the essence of a person. Like a painting, a fingerprint, or the unique way each person's eyes sparkle, poetry cannot be copied or replicated. That's what I love about it. I write to get stuff off my chest. I write in the hopes that someone out there understands how I feel.Thank you all for putting your hearts out there. I love reading your poetry.A lot of the stuff I post here isn't posted anywhere else. This site is like a private journal for me, except I actually get to share my feelings with someone else. I love reading reviews of my poems from people I've never ever met before. Somehow, not knowing you all personally except through your poetry is totally freeing to me. In a way, you are all some of my best friends. Thank you for reading/rating/reviewing. I promise to return the favor each time I see your name on my site.<3 aVividOverdose more…
