Come Home, Jenny

who will drink the Christmas wine
who will sit and Christmas dine
who will open presents Christmas morn
who will look in the stocking forlorn
with the look of "why me?"
when it's filled with just candy
who will be my loving sister
who sometimes acts like a blister
from life's burns so hard
please don't just send a card
you must show up with Christmas cheer
to laugh and be merry this blessed time of year
hear me, dear sister, one
I tell you this: Do not run
away this time of year
yes, the whole family wants you near
for it won't be the season at all
if you're stuck four hours away and only call
my sweet, shy little sister be
there for all of them, not just me.
