Cold Winds Of Popularity

Words flow from the mind's swirls of imagination;
soft poetic splendour that eases to the lips,
language is beautiful as it dances across
the page and into other spirits who smile life.

Perhaps a petal of verse; to please open eyes,
shall twirl inside the scent of communication,
though not all will understand the arrangements made,
creativity is often slated by those
that roam through envy's green fields of shimmering light.

With one quick breath individuality is
encouraged by peers while the next one snickers,
and snarls politely say that your style's too complex;
flowery words that show where thoughts fly quietly.

Simplicity is the key that turns poetry,
dumb down the self and be free to blend into rooms
where the cliqued set souls say welcome to our domain,
be like us in cold winds of popularity.
