Can't Keep it in Mind

deep in the night
when the sun wont know
the Earth
for hours longer
when the stars still show
the window
to the distant past
like tiny salt crystals
their true nature is
betrayed
the raging fires ushered
on by forces imperceptible
some like powerful lighthouses
casting out a blazing beacon
some hiding other Earths
full of fauna
we forget
and
we sleep
