Brother Sky

I saw Brother Sky
This morning, looking
Up at him from a courtyard
I felt his warm windy embrace

My feet, courageous boats
Swimming across moist
Rocks, ripe with moss,
With mist after
The rain

As I leave, I see
The white lines, creases
Of age and wisdom
Against his ancient blue
Hands

His hands that wrap
Around the earth, that
Shape reality like clay
Hewn from

Sighs in the rain
Eyes closed in the sun
Hands outstretched as
Dawn breaks over the horizon

Brother Sky knows
They question his clouds
They curse his rain
But his truth, his message

Lives in the lungs of
Time, an eternal breath
That amazes and awes
When it speaks in the weather

Whether sunshine
Whether windy seas
He promises nothing
But a canvas
For daybreak
